Code & Cipher Lectures and Interactive SessionsTailored to the age and abilities of the students, from KS2 up to university level. A talk on codes & ciphers is a great way to stimulate an interest in Mathematics, and links to the National Curriculum. A fun, interactive talk on codes & ciphers, can be scheduled to precede a visit to The Bletchley Park Story exhibition for KS2 and KS3 students on one of our collection-based visits. For our guided visits (12-14 year olds; 14-19 year olds; adult learners), the talk is extended to 45 mins or an hour, with coding activities, modified to suit the visitors' ages and abilities. Each presenter of Codes & Ciphers gives a slightly different emphasis, but usually the talk starts with simple hidden words, through transposition and substitution ciphers and, depending on the audience, can include a simple (or more advanced) explanations of the principle of the Enigma machine. |
