Become a Volunteer at Bletchley Park

Public interest in Bletchley Park continues to grow and with it the workload.  Visitor numbers have doubled in three years and the Trust is heavily reliant on its volunteer workforce for the running of the museum.  Would you like to play a part in the future of Bletchley Park?   Download this application form if you can spare some of your time, however little, to support us.  Volunteer roles available are as follows;-

TOUR GUIDES
Visitors to Bletchley Park are able to enjoy daily tours thanks to our army of Volunteer Tour Guides.  Could you bring a secret World War II site to life for groups of up to forty visitors? Training would be given and our Guides agree that their work is tremendously rewarding, despite having to take tour groups round the site in all weathers!  Tours last about one and a half hours and are aimed at giving visitors a general synopsis of the fascinating work done on the site during WWII.  Due to an increase in visitor numbers we currently have a critical shortage of Tour Guides so please do not hesitate to contact us if you are interested.

EDUCATION TEAM
Persons required, preferably with teaching experience, to assist the education department in delivering our programme for schools. This covers age ranges from KS1- A'level, and we require volunteers with a range of expertise. If you would like to teach students about the maths behind cracking enigma, run
code-breaking sessions, give walking tours, supervise museum visits or offer your time in the production of new courses, please get in touch.

WEEKEND YOUTH GROUPS/FAMILY ACTIVITY STEWARD
Bletchley Park requires an enthusiastic person to take care of youth groups and arrange activities for families at weekends.
This would include meeting and greeting scout/guide/ cub/brownie groups, and giving them an orientation tour, as well as organising the loan of family activity bags.
The candidate would need to be available regularly for several hours on either Saturday or Sunday, and would be active as well as experienced with groups of children.

STEWARDS
People needed to steward the various historical buildings on site as well as assisting with meeting and greeting coach parties and generally looking after the well being of our visitors.

CUSTOMER SERVICE TEAM
Someone to join our Customer Service Team looking after the general well being of our weekday visitors. Meeting and greeting coach parties and other pre booked groups, organising their rooms, collecting their fees and getting them started on their tour round Bletchley Park whether by guide or electronic wand. Generally being available to advise and assist the general public that cross our threshold.

COLOSSUS REBUILD PROJECT
The Colossus Rebuild Team are looking for someone with a background in electronics or computers to assist them in meeting, greeting and answering the varied questions of the many visitors to the project.

BOMBE VOLUNTEERS
The Bombe Rebuild Team now has a fully working and reliable machine but do not have enough resources to demonstrate it on a regular basis. We are now looking for volunteers to operate and demonstrate after appropriate training has been given. Demonstrations are most needed at weekends but training will be available when the Rebuild team is on site at Bletchley Park.  For further details click here.

THE H BLOCK STEWARD ROLE:
Looking for individuals with an aptitude for technology, you need to be competent in dealing with the general public in a friendly and helpful manner. You will be required to show exhibits, but training will be given. Candidates need to be over 18 and ideally be able to do one day a week on open days which are Wednesday to Sunday.
